Position Overview
The Culinary Specialist is responsible for preparing meals in accordance with federal, state, and corporate standards, ensuring that all food service meets established guidelines and policies. The role emphasizes maintaining high-quality food service at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares exceptional food items following standardized recipes and directives to align with production, delivery, and service timelines.
- Serves meals or prepares them for delivery by adhering to proper portioning, ensuring compliance with outlined standards, and guaranteeing that food is served at the appropriate temperature while being visually appealing and flavorful. Conducts taste tests on all prepared dishes.
- Implements established ticket collection protocols during service and maintains accurate records from the assigned area during service periods.
- Maintains cleanliness in the kitchen post-preparation and serving, upholding rigorous cleanliness standards. Safely stores or discards surplus food according to food-handling regulations.
- Ensures that refrigerators and storage areas are kept orderly and clean, and that food and supplies are stored according to established standards.
- Operates and cares for kitchen equipment as per instructions.
- Assists in production planning, record-keeping, and reporting as necessary.
- Participates in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as needed.
- Reports any required maintenance, malfunctioning equipment, or incidents to the supervisor without delay.
- Attends in-service training and safety meetings.
- Fosters positive working relationships with colleagues, guests, administrators, and management.
- Ensures a safe working environment while performing job duties and maintaining cleanliness.
- Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.
