In accordance with state and federal regulations, the Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy. This role involves working under direct supervision to perform various tasks, including assisting with the performance of Pharmacy Department duties, using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, and processing prescriptions.
Responsibilities
Assist pharmacists in the performance of pharmacy duties, including the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers.
Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, and process prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
Assist with and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers.
Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience by engaging customers and patients, resolving customer issues, and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers by providing excellent customer service and support.
Perform duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including using pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, and filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
Maintain knowledge of Company asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
Requirements
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment and prior work experience with Walgreens.
Prefer good math skills to fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
Prefer good computer skills and knowledge of store inventory control.
Prefer PTCB certification.
