Job Overview

This role is responsible for analyzing and modeling solar and wind energy resources to produce long-term energy production estimates. The ideal candidate will have expertise in numerical weather modeling, data collection and filtering, and geospatial analysis using ArcGIS software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review on-site meteorological data from various sensing devices
  • Set up, monitor, and analyze numerical weather models to understand long-term energy resources
  • Translate long-term resources into energy production using in-house software and prediction tools
  • Perform geospatial analysis to identify locations with maximum energy output and minimal impact to local land use
  • Collect and filter operational data
  • Review electrical and structural drawings of commercial and/or utility scale wind and/or solar farms
  • Analyze system energy loss due to wiring, transformers, soiling, snow, etc.
  • Diagnose operating assets for plant optimization
  • Provide investment due diligence and financing support
  • Apply technical knowledge in support of new product development
  • Provide site intelligence and field services, including construction screening, on-site instrumentation audits, and shading analyses
  • Provide meteorological instrumentation and siting recommendations
  • Prepare written reports and presentations for internal and external customers
  • Travel to project sites to collect data, assist in permitting and community outreach, and participate in industry conferences
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree preferred
