Role SummaryThe Surgical Services Technologist plays a vital role in providing both direct and indirect technical support to patients undergoing surgical and obstetric procedures. This position is essential in ensuring the safe and efficient execution of invasive surgical interventions. The Surgical Services Technologist adheres to established protocols and standards, supporting the mission and policies of the Valley Baptist Health System.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Surgical Services Technologist is responsible for:
- Completing established competencies within the designated introductory period.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education: High school diploma and completion of a surgical technology program accredited by the Department of Education (DOE) or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
Preferred Experience: At least 1 year of experience as a Surgical or OB Technologist in an acute care or outpatient setting.
Required Certifications: Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) as a CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) or from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) as a TS-C (Technician in Surgery–Certified).
Required Courses: BLS certification obtained through an approved American Heart Association training program.
