This Role

Offers expert technical support and direction for the evaluation, planning, conceptualization, renovation, modification, expansion, and execution of innovative, functional, and sustainable architectural designs and/or construction projects in both public and private sectors. Responsibilities may include aiding in the conceptual visualization of projects, creating drawings, specifications, budgets, and construction documents, developing and presenting design proposals, and managing client interactions. Produces precise and clear drawings, blueprints, renderings, and documentation related to materials, installations, feasibility, and construction technology specifications. Ensures that tasks are completed with a quality level that meets or surpasses industry standards for design, safety, structural integrity, and occupancy.

Your Contributions
  • Assist in creating detailed drawings that depict both the exterior and interior design and structure of building projects.
  • Gather, compile, and analyze data from physical sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, environmental data, historical usage, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
  • Conduct professional architectural work and assist in researching and inspecting proposed and existing site conditions, resources, buildings, infrastructure, and transportation systems to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and construction or operating permits.
  • Engage in incorporating advanced modeling techniques, concept development, design requirements, and operational strategies to ensure the safety and functionality of occupants and end-users; integrating future-ready solutions with architectural design standards.
  • Collaborate as an individual or as part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work, assist in laying out structure installations, establishing reference points for construction, selecting suitable materials for durability, calculating costs and quantities of materials/equipment/labor, establishing project timelines, and ensuring project work adheres to specifications, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
  • Assess site and structure characteristics, providing technical assistance to ensure structural soundness against loads and pressures from environmental or human influences.
  • Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, artistic sketches, renderings, calculations, and 2D/3D illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, illustrations, and documentation.
  • Assist in the development and scoping of small to medium-sized projects.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations that elucidate research and findings to improve, prevent, control, restore, or address timeline, design, and/or construction issues, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Conduct research to gather further information on specific design and construction issues and to evaluate feasibility, environmental impact, and action plans for low to mid-level risk mitigation activities.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals, subcontractors, and building authorities on federally, state, regionally, locally, and privately funded building, infrastructure, and development projects.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and conduct, adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or a closely related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience in the discipline.
  • Understanding of architectural principles, practices, processes, and their application to project-related issues.
  • Experience in building planning, drawing standards, design, and construction management, including restorative and new design.
  • Strong creative, visualization, and technical drawing skills.
  • Knowledge of processes and concepts for sustainability, green building design, and minimizing the use or generation of hazardous substances/greenhouse gases.
  • Familiarity with relevant building and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, articulating ideas clearly and professionally to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instructions, work independently, and comply with company policies.
  • Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation, technology, mathematical principles, graphics, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Experience with discipline-specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, REVIT, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary to apply technical knowledge to derive conclusions from data collection, feedback, statistical analysis, and to identify the most effective, economical, and logical solutions.
  • Proven track record of maintaining workplace safety and adherence to WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules that accommodate project-specific requirements, which may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary depending on project-specific needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $87,700-$114,000

WSP USA provides the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the company believes it might offer for this position based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, along with internal equity and geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.
