Position Overview:

Deriva Energy, a prominent player in the sustainable energy sector, is actively seeking a Wind Technician to support our operations. Our company specializes in wind, solar, and backup power solutions, contributing to over 1,000 projects nationwide. This role is based at our wind farm location and is essential to our commitment to renewable energy.

As a Wind Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the operational integrity of our wind turbines. This position offers a full-time, permanent opportunity with significant potential for career advancement. Depending on your skills and experience, this role may be filled at the Wind Technician II level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Uphold a strong safety culture at all times.

• Ascend to heights exceeding 300 ft. multiple times throughout the day.

• Identify and rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues within the turbines.

• Conduct troubleshooting to determine the root cause of malfunctions and implement corrective measures or liaise with equipment manufacturers as necessary.

• Execute energy isolation protocols in compliance with Lock Out / Tag Out procedures.

• Perform transformer switching in accordance with Hazardous Energy Control protocols.

• Carry out both minor and major repairs on wind turbines.

• Engage in preventative and corrective maintenance, along with performance monitoring and evaluation.

• Ensure all turbine components (electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.) are maintained to the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

• Complete necessary documentation within Maximo, including work orders, timesheets, and inventory management.

Qualifications:

Wind Technician - Level I:

• High School diploma or GED.

• Must complete Level I job performance measures and training within one year.

Wind Technician - Level II:

• High School diploma or GED.

• External candidates require a minimum of three years of relevant experience and must pass necessary performance measures during the probationary period.

• Internal candidates should have at least one year of technical experience with Deriva Energy as a Wind Technician.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's degree or certification in Wind/Renewable Energy or a related field.

• Familiarity with Siemens 2.3 turbines and various wind turbine technologies.

• Experience in high voltage and substation maintenance.

• Proficient with mechanical and electronic testing tools.

• Knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance and crane operations.

• Competence in using Maximo and Microsoft Office Suite.

• CPR and AED certification, along with tower climbing and rescue training.

• Forklift certification is a plus.

Working Conditions:
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
  • Travel to various project sites may be necessary.
  • Exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards.
  • Work in diverse environmental conditions including extreme weather.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs independently.
  • Climbing and working at heights up to 400 ft. regularly.
