Job Overview

Position Summary:

As a Paramedic Technician within our organization, you will play a crucial role in delivering pre-hospital emergency medical services to individuals in Kent County and its neighboring regions. Your responsibilities will encompass evaluating and treating patients, documenting care provided, and ensuring safe transport to healthcare facilities. This position demands the ability to work autonomously while effectively utilizing approved medical techniques and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond swiftly to emergency situations and deliver essential medical assistance within the designated service area.
  • Operate under the guidance of the Medical Director to provide Basic Life Support services and facilitate patient transfers to hospitals as necessary.
  • Collaborate independently with Advanced Life Support professionals.
  • Engage in clear communication with patients and hospital personnel, ensuring the seamless exchange of care and information.
  • Safely operate emergency vehicles and maintain them in a state of readiness.
  • Compile comprehensive reports for each emergency response.
  • Participate in continuous training to remain informed and uphold necessary certifications.
  • Ensure that vehicles are clean, adequately stocked, and prepared for service.
  • Perform general station duties as required.

Supervision:

  • Report directly to the Chief of Emergency Medical Services and the Paramedic Supervisor, without any direct supervisory responsibilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Exceptional communication skills for effective interaction with patients and team members.
  • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to navigate challenging situations.
  • Exhibit creativity, flexibility, and technical expertise in emergency medical practices.
  • Fulfill specific criteria related to age, driving, and necessary certifications.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and certifications in Emergency Medical Technician-Basic and related fields.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

  • Work in diverse environments with physical demands and potential exposure to hazardous conditions.
  • Be prepared for shift work, overtime, and standby duties as required.
