Position Overview: The Surgical Technologist Specialist plays a vital role in supporting nursing staff to ensure exceptional patient care within the surgical environment. This position involves executing the responsibilities of a scrub technician under the supervision of a registered nurse. Key tasks include preparing surgical instruments, managing supplies, and maintaining a sterile environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assemble and verify all surgical instruments for each procedure based on the surgeon's preferences.
  2. Inspect sterility indicators, expiration dates, and the condition of packaging.
  3. Prepare sterile supplies for assigned surgeries, ensuring a sterile field is upheld and promptly addressing any breaches in technique.
  4. Conduct surgical scrubbing, gowning, and gloving procedures for both self and surgical team members.
  5. Organize instruments, basins, sutures, and materials meticulously for accurate counts post-surgery.
  6. Assist circulating nurses with the inventory of all surgical items, including sponges, needles, and other instruments.
  7. Utilize all surgical tools and equipment correctly while performing standard draping techniques.
  8. Efficiently pass instruments to the surgical team during procedures.
  9. Perform additional related tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
  3. Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Scrub Tech in a healthcare setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or a related discipline.
