Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Cardiology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing patient care in support of cardiovascular physicians and other medical personnel. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Triage patients and assess emergency cases, obtaining and documenting medication lists, allergies, vital signs, patient complaints, and histories in the electronic medical record.
  • Communicate concerns and/or problems regarding patients to physicians/providers, assisting with coding and risk management efforts.
  • Remain available for physicians/providers, assisting with patient rooms and reviewing/completing orders, giving injections, and providing samples.
  • Create and maintain accurate and complete electronic documentation, including patient medication lists, allergies, chart notes, and detail documentation regarding phone calls.
  • Respond to phone calls from pharmacies, patients, physician offices, home health agencies, and other external customers.
  • Perform blood work and/or assist with duties associated with Coumadin clinics/patients when needed.
  • Explain diagnostic procedures to patients, providing education and support as needed.
  • Interrogate pacemakers and defibrillators, assisting with pacemaker clinics as needed.
  • Assist with filling out forms, reviewing staff alert cards/insurance flags, and performing insurance pre-certifications.
  • Assist with ordering medical supplies and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Participate in mandated clinic checks, including pro-thrombin time checks, temperature checks, and defibrillator machine checks.
  • Assist with staffing other clinics and departments as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, serving in whatever capacity deemed necessary for the successful completion of the mission and goals of CIS.
Standards of Performance
  • Maintain a neat and organized work area, reporting safety issues to the team leader immediately.
  • Work efficiently and manage time wisely, assisting other employees when all duties are complete.
  • Communicate any problems, difficulties, or concerns regarding job duties to the team leader.
  • Perform all duties without significant error occurring with any regularity.
  • Meet all deadlines and timeframes for completion of assignments.
  • Represent CIS in a professional manner at all times, demonstrating acceptable ability to interact with physicians, staff, and external customers.
  • Exhibit a harmonious relationship with other CIS employees, working cooperatively to achieve the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Adhere to the CIS Compliance Plan, using best efforts to maintain compliance and following medical documentation guidelines.
  • Perform accurate and complete documentation in the patient's medical record, maintaining patient confidentiality according to HIPAA standards.
Qualifications
  • Current and unencumbered State licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • One to Two Years Clinical experience in Cardiology preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Successful completion of EKG and general cardiology courses assigned via virtual learning platform within 12 months of hire
  • Effective communication skills
