We are seeking a highly skilled Transmission Work Planner to join our team at Environmental Consultants (ECI). As a key member of our vegetation management consulting services, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our clients' utility infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect and assess transmission right-of-way for trimming or removals of trees, utilizing industry-specific knowledge and expertise.
- Record, organize, and document associated vegetation work for later trimming and removal by a tree crew, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Provide identified access routes onto and in ROW, ensuring compliance with utility specifications and regulations.
- May be asked to provide high-level cost and time estimates based on planned work, utilizing industry-specific software and tools.
- Audit tree contractor's work for compliance with utility's specifications, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
- Operate system forestry computer programs and record systems, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Communicate daily with the utility client, contractors, landowners, and the general public, providing exceptional customer service and support.
- Perform duties in a manner that will promote and maintain good public relations, ensuring a positive image for ECI.
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to identify tree species, utilizing industry-specific knowledge and expertise.
- Must be able to identify required removal and trimming work based off utility specifications, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Must be able to work alone, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain, demonstrating physical ability and mobility.
- Must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, strong problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities, and attention to detail.
- Must be able to adapt to change, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have basic computer skills, utilizing industry-specific software and tools.
- Associates or bachelor's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field is a plus, but not required.
- 1-3 years prior UVM and utility experience on transmissions ROW preferred.
- Familiarity with vegetation removal, utility line clearance, and utility vegetation methods and equipment is a plus.
- Prior experience with GIS technology/software is a plus.
- Certified ISA Arborist is a plus.
- Being Bi-Lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
Work alone in an outdoor field environment; vehicle and foot patrol of utility power lines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demands and travel from site to site, including walking/hiking on various surfaces including flat, dry, wet, slippery, uneven, rough, steep terrain, hills, and slopes; exposure to noise, dust, grease, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions.
