Job Summary

The Anesthesia Technician 2 plays a vital role in supporting Anesthesiologists with routine to complex procedures before, during, and after anesthesia procedures. This includes preparing, calibrating, and verifying the proper working order of equipment, as well as cleaning and stocking anesthesia supplies in Operating Rooms and satellite areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Arrange drugs and basic sterile set-up of instrument tables with supplies required for anesthesia procedures.
  • Ensure anesthesia carts and supply cabinets contain adequate supplies for procedures.
  • Pass supplies, instruments, and lines to Anesthesiologists during procedures.
  • Clean tables, equipment, and work areas in Operating Rooms after each case.
  • Respond to requests for supplies and drugs from Nurse Anesthetists, Anesthesiologists, and Surgical Teams.
  • Wash, dry, and prepare for sterilization all non-disposable anesthesia equipment.
  • Check equipment to ensure working order and report any issues to Biomedical Engineering.
Requirements
  • General knowledge of anesthesiology standards and practices, modalities, therapies, terminology, medications, and equipment.
  • Skill in preparing Operating Rooms for required purposes.
  • Ability to react calmly in emergency situations.
  • Ability to clean and perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Relational skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
  • Basic computer skills, including data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • 1 Year of Experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 30 days.
