Job Summary:

The Psychiatric Social Worker is a vital member of an interdisciplinary team who provides direct assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment intervention, and psycho-education to members and/or family members. The ideal candidate must be familiar with all aspects of psychopathology and recognize the appropriate and timely clinical treatment intervention needed. This role may involve working with specific age groups, as determined by training and certification. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in various treatment modalities and will spend the majority of their time in direct patient care.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Competencies:
  • Timely and appropriate assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment intervention of members.
  • Selection of treatment modalities to address members' presenting problems.
  • Effective communication of clinical material to members and clinical staff.
  • Providing high internal and external customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Demonstrating expertise in various treatment methodologies.
  • Documentation of clinical encounters in members' charts.
  • Knowledge of KP and community resources.
  • Adherence to mandated guidelines for patients' clinical care and licensure.
  • Maintenance of licensure.
  • Conducting initial interviews with members to elicit and interpret the psychological and social meaning of complaints.
  • Determining the urgency of members' needs.
  • Providing professional interpretations of members' presentations and recommending courses of therapeutic action.
  • Selection of appropriate treatment modalities.
  • Providing treatment to adults, adolescents, and children.
  • Rendition of immediate guidance and therapy for members in crisis or in need of clinical services.
  • Maintenance of written records of therapy, preparation of reports and letters, and communication with social agencies, schools, relatives, and friends to obtain pertinent information.
  • Providing clinical consultation in an integrated healthcare environment regarding family interactions, sociocultural determinants, and community resources.
  • Telephone assessment, counseling, resource information, and referrals.
  • Proficiency in identifying and treating the span of developmental stages.
  • Proficiency in various treatment modalities, including individual, group, family, and child therapy.
  • Compliance with organizational, departmental, state/federal guidelines, and all regulatory agency policies and procedures.
  • Participation in QM and CQI activities.
Basic Qualifications:

  • Two years of postgraduate mental health therapy experience within the last five years required.
  • Masters degree in a Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or other field related to behavioral health required.
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California) OR Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California) OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California)
  • National Provider Identifier
Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize current DSM nomenclature required.
  • Consistent demonstration of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to customers, contracted providers, and vendors.
