About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Technician to join our team at UNC Health Care. This role will be responsible for performing a variety of patient testing and administrative tasks in support of the clinical activities in the Transfusion Medicine service (Blood Bank).

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and/or workflow.
  • Participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
  • Teach Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, and train new employees.
  • Perform quality control and equipment maintenance in the laboratory.
  • Prepare specimens and reagents, solutions, heat, or filters as required.
  • Report results to healthcare providers and consult/confere with them regarding test results.
  • Review test results to ensure accuracy and timely correction of errors.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science degree.
  • Eligibility to sit for MT exam within 12 months of hire.
  • Obtain certification within one year of becoming exam eligible.
  • No prior experience required.
