Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve menu items for patients, following established recipes and presentation guidelines.
  • Set up meal service stations and maintain a clean and sanitary food preparation environment.
  • Assemble and serve meals in accordance with selected menus, presentation, and portion control guidelines.
  • Receive and put away deliveries, and maintain inventory levels.
  • Wash dishes, flatware, serving utensils, and dispose of trash.
  • Load, operate, and unload commercial dishwashers.
  • Transport carts to patient units and other areas of the hospital.
  • May operate a cash register to process and verify payment for goods or services.
  • Follow all safety and infection control policies and procedures, including proper hand washing and use of required protection devices.
  • Report safety hazards and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of food service experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills in customer service, critical thinking, problem solving, and written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to make sound judgments while quickly processing information.
  • Ability to perform basic tasks on a computer, including logging on and off a workstation, checking email, and completing annual online employee commitment modules.
Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, carry objects up to 25 pounds, and stand for long periods. The physical demands of this role may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks.

Environmental Factors

This role may involve exposure to blood-borne pathogens, bio-hazardous waste, chemicals, gases, fumes, and vapors. The use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, may be required.
