Position Overview: We are seeking qualified candidates for a position as an Otolaryngologist specializing in reconstructive surgery. The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at VCU is looking for a board-eligible or board-certified, fellowship-trained Otolaryngologist to enhance our dynamic academic practice.

Compensation and academic rank will be competitive and aligned with the candidate's experience.

This role involves providing clinical expertise in the surgical management of various Otolaryngology conditions. The selected physician will also contribute to the education and training of Otolaryngology residents, medical students, and observers. Additionally, the physician will pursue excellence in research initiatives within their area of specialization.

The Department promotes a culture of research and professional engagement vital to the Graduate Medical Education (GME) program and the professional development of its faculty.


Key Responsibilities:

Teaching:
The faculty member will engage in the education of residents, medical students, and other learners. Responsibilities include delivering Continuing Medical Education (CME) lectures for healthcare professionals.

Research: The faculty member is expected to establish a distinguished reputation in clinical and/or translational research, with a focus on publishing in peer-reviewed journals and securing external funding. Development of interdisciplinary collaborations to enhance both research and clinical programs at VCU is anticipated. Mentorship of residents and students in their research endeavors is also a key aspect of this role.

Service: The faculty member will participate in departmental, Health System, and/or University committees as required. Engagement in professional service activities, such as serving as a reviewer, external committee member, or conference organizer, is encouraged.

Clinical: This role is primarily focused on clinical practice as a faculty physician. The faculty member will demonstrate excellence in patient care and treatment within the field. Responsibilities include fostering the growth of individual clinical practice and referral networks, as well as participating in multidisciplinary clinical initiatives.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Board certified/eligible in Otolaryngology
  • Strong commitment to clinical care, education, and research
  • Fellowship trained
  • Licensed to practice medicine in Virginia upon hire
  • Demonstrated experience in fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at Virginia Commonwealth University
