Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care, utilizing the nursing process under the supervision of healthcare providers.
  • Review diagnostic test results, report abnormal findings, and communicate changes in patient condition to the RN and healthcare team.
  • Administer medications, therapies, and treatments in accordance with practical nursing standards.
  • Maintain a safe environment, promoting patient and healthcare team safety at all times.
  • Implement components of the plan of care within the LPN scope of practice and competency to promote desired outcomes.
Coordination of Care:
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to effectively execute patient care plans.
  • Assist physicians, RNs, and healthcare team members with data collection, assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient care.
  • Support patients' psychological, ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs by collaborating with the RN and healthcare team.
  • Seek out healthcare team members as resources to increase practice knowledge.
Quality:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives by utilizing standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
  • Proficient in English, verbal and written communication skills, and computer skills.
  • Licensed as an LPN in the state of Louisiana or work permit and BLS certification.
