About the Role

The Fleet/Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, or overhauling mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment such as diesel trucks, trailers, and tankers in support of the facility's overall operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule maintenance for fleet and heavy equipment and maintain service records.
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts to Paccar engines, braking systems, fuel systems, power trains, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Overhaul and test equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
  • Weld or solder broken parts and structural members, using electric or gas welders and soldering tools.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on all facility vehicles to ensure that equipment and vehicles operate efficiently and safely.
  • Fabricate needed parts or items from sheet metal.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required if less than 5 years verifiable related work experience.
  • Diesel trade school certificate preferred.
  • Current valid CDL Class A license is a plus.
  • Previous experience as a diesel mechanic.
  • Experience with Paccar engines, hydraulic, and electrical maintenance on trucks and trailers.
  • Welding/fabricating a plus.
Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, and reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move between 10 and 50 pounds and work in confined space.
