Fleet Mechanic Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic to join our team at Integrated Deicing Services. As a Fleet Mechanic, you will play a critical role in ensuring the proper performance, safety, and reliability of our trucks, support vehicles, and ground service equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for local maintenance scheduling and performance to ensure equipment dependability;
  • Perform all duties of a skilled maintenance technician following recognized procedures for such work, as required;
  • Ability to read and use maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, schematics, blueprints, drawings, and other related maintenance documents to complete work assignments;
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic problems and resolve within an established timeframe;
  • Maintain complete and accurate maintenance records and conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections on equipment;
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Must be at least 18 years old;
  • Must be able to speak and hear efficiently;
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills;
  • Candidates must have your own basic set of tools (sockets/wrenches) up to 1 in size and up to 1/2 drive;
  • Effective time management and organizational skills to manipulate multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines at once;
  • Knowledge of fluid types, diesel powered machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance;
  • Welding experience is preferred;
  • Maintain and treat all information as confidential;
  • Must be able to read, write, understand and carry out instructions in English;
  • Must be able to verbally direct in English;
  • Possess the tact to deal with all levels of employees and client representatives;
  • Proven knowledge and use of standard and specialty tools and specialized testing equipment (i.e. photo tachometer, diagnostics tools and hardware, scanners and meters);
  • A valid driver's license is required for this position;
  • Ability to travel to our other IDS Airport to help our company when called upon.
Work Environment:

The Fleet Mechanic will work in a physically strenuous environment with prolonged periods of time standing, exposure to noise, safe but potentially unpleasant odors, varying temperatures and humidity, in and around heavy moving equipment.

The Fleet Mechanic must be able to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, speak and hear efficiently, and lift up to 50 pounds.
