Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Machinist to join our team at Freeport-McMoRan. As a Machinist, you will be responsible for performing maintenance crafts work, including plumbing, pipefitting, welding, machining, boiler making, and gear component assembly. You will work independently with minimal supervision to perform routine maintenance activities, develop solutions for various maintenance situations, and complete work orders and other maintenance documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance activities, including setup and operation of machine tools and fitting and assembling parts to make or repair metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines.
  • Develop solutions for various maintenance situations, including troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
  • Complete work orders and other maintenance documentation, including reports and records.
  • Train and mentor maintenance employees to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Perform other duties as required, including working on elevated platforms and in environments with extreme temperatures and humidity.
Requirements
  • Four (4) years' experience in the crafts of Machinist, Line Boring, Welding, Boiler Maker.
  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in welding/cutting.
  • Ability to operate a 11", 20", 24", and 32" Lathe, Milling Machine, Horizontal Milling Machine, Marvel Band Saw, Drill Press.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience working on 4100XPA, 4100XPB/C, and 4100 XPC/AC Komatsu Electric Shovels.
  • Experience working on PV271, PV271XC Epiroc Diesel Drills.
