Job Summary

The Orthoptist - Vision Care Specialist analyzes and treats patients with dysfunctions of binocularity and/or ocular motility. Examines patients to diagnose and treat abnormal eye motor movements, partial vision, and determination of presence of fusion. Responsible for patient triage, patient care communications between visits, and working directly with the clinical teams. Also responsible for patients in the absence of the ophthalmologist. Role includes opportunity to participate in department research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and treat patients with binocular vision disorders
  • Examine patients to determine the presence of fusion and abnormal eye motor movements
  • Communicate with patients and families to provide education and support
  • Work collaboratively with clinical teams to provide comprehensive care
  • Participate in department research to advance knowledge and treatment options
Requirements
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working as an Orthoptist
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control techniques, and age-related acuity levels
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Work Environment

The Orthoptist - Vision Care Specialist will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing care to patients in a fully equipped clinic. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, and will be committed to providing exceptional patient care.
