Job Summary:
The Residential Instructor position at Alternative Services - Connecticut, Inc. is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. As a Residential Instructor, you will be responsible for providing daily support and supervision to consumers, ensuring their safety and well-being in a fun, safe, and healthy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor consumer behavior and implement behavior management programs as needed.
- Document all shift activities and incidents in the log and on consumers in Therap.
- Provide programmatic and statistical reports as required.
- Maintain safety, appearance, and cleanliness of the home, conducting sanitation and safety inspections as necessary.
- Assist with shopping, meal preparation, setup, and cleanup when on duty.
- Attend in-service training, seminars, or other opportunities for professional development as made available by the Agency.
Requirements:
- Minimum possession of a High School Diploma or a G.E.D.
- Minimum two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis.
- Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by our insurance company throughout employment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain certifications in CPR, First Aid, PMT, and DDS State Medication Administration.
Working Environment:
The Residential Instructor will work in a supportive living environment, providing daily support and supervision to consumers. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a commitment to providing high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities.
