Job Responsibilities:
Under general supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, Security Officers will be armed and trained to meet or exceed Law Enforcement standards.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Ensuring the safety and security of staff, patients, and visitors.
Security Officers are empowered to remove or trespass individuals who disrupt or interfere with patient care, as well as those posing a threat to the safety and security of our staff, patients, or visitors.
Follow-up will involve collaboration with Law Enforcement and the Prosecutor's Office to ensure staff are represented and informed.
Responding to all emergency codes and remaining vigilant for any fire or safety concerns.
Responsible for maintaining a safe environment for patients under a Mental Health hold or Emergency Commitment.
Facilitating patient transports to Detox and Acute Treatment Unit (ATU) facilities as required.
Conducting interior and exterior patrols, including off-site facilities.
Maintaining mandatory training requirements and ensuring issued equipment is functioning properly.
Required to complete detailed written reports, including daily activity, physical management, contraband, and incidents.
Assisting hospital staff as necessary to ensure patient care and performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
In addition to embodying humankindness in the workplace, qualified candidates will need the following:
Essential Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D. required; an Associate's Degree or equivalent in Criminal Justice or a related field is preferred.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Current valid Colorado Driver's License.
Three years of experience in certified Law Enforcement, Corrections, or Military experience related to security.
Completion of a state or federal certified academy for Law Enforcement is required, and candidates must currently be employed in law enforcement.
Successful completion of Essentials of Aggression Management training course within 60 days of hire.
Successful completion of training in Defensive Tactics and Arrest Control Techniques within 60 days of hire.
Successful completion of training in the proper use and implementation of restraints within 60 days of hire.
Successful completion of a 40-hour firearms training and qualification course within 60 days of hire.
Successful completion of Taser training and certification course required within 60 days of hire.
Successful completion of a Psychological examination within 60 days of hire.
Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) certification within four years.
Schedule:
This is a PRN "as needed" position.
