Position Overview
The Linux Support Engineer will collaborate with management on daily operational tasks, which include VM deployment, handling OS access requests, troubleshooting OS/VM issues, configuring ESXi, conducting SOX audits, and resolving performance-related challenges. This role operates within an agile framework, utilizing tools like Jira and ServiceNow for ticket management, while working closely with cross-functional teams to provide exceptional support to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Collaboration: Establish and nurture relationships with Infrastructure Engineering, Managed Service Providers, facility support, vendors, and application teams to ensure seamless delivery and support of infrastructure solutions.
- Operational Support: Provide level 1/2 support for ticket resolution, incident management, and problem-solving, including on-call responsibilities.
- Technical Environment: Commit to developing and maintaining a stable, high-performance technical environment.
Client Engagement:
- Work with business and client teams to define and articulate technical requirements and recommendations.
- Exhibit strong customer service skills and professionalism in all interactions.
- Collaborate effectively with local facility clients and peers across operations and technology.
- Manage timelines, priorities, and client expectations effectively.
- Coordinate with the Business Engagement team to gather technical requirements and ensure resource availability for timely project delivery.
Monitoring and Security:
- Partner with the cybersecurity team to implement repeatable systems that adhere to security best practices.
- Familiarity with PCI and SOX compliance procedures is preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Experience in managing, building, and troubleshooting virtualization and operating system technologies, particularly VMware, Windows, and Linux.
- Proficient in OS/hardware monitoring and performance management.
- Understanding of networking protocols, routing, and network topology.
- Ability to automate operational tasks to enhance reliability and standards.
- Some experience with scripting languages such as Python, Ansible, Shell, PowerShell, GIT, and CI/CD methodologies.
- Experience working within agile methodologies and JIRA-based sprint structures.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of block, file, and object storage technologies.
- Familiarity with backup technologies, recovery scenarios, and high availability solutions.
- Experience with ServiceNow or similar IT Service Management tools.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this contract position ranges from $35 to $45 per hour, based on experience. Our pay structure is determined by role, level, and location, ensuring fair compensation for all employees.
