We are seeking an experienced Certified Medication Aide to join our team at Pecan Bayou in Brownwood, TX.

About the Role: As a Certified Medication Aide, you will be responsible for preparing, administering, and documenting medications given to residents under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will also monitor residents' vital signs, observe their behavior, and report any observations or difficulties with medications to the supervising nurse throughout the shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and administer oral, topical, and suppository medications to residents as prescribed by physicians.
  • Count and calculate dosages daily and document the number of scheduled drugs at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Report any observations concerning resident/patient condition, emergency situations, or difficulties with medications to the supervising nurse.
  • Document vital signs, medication administration, resident behaviors associated with medication administration, and facility incident and accident reports.
  • Meet with supervisory staff to discuss medication administration process and participate in review response.
  • Participate in designing and implementing resident care plans related to medication administration.
  • Record and replace medications and medication administration supplies; maintain and clean medication cart to remain compliant with facility policies and procedures.
  • Provide direct resident care within the scope of the CMA role and continue direct care activities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certification as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) in good standing is necessary.
  • At least 6 months of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), preferably in a long-term care facility.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift and transfer residents (up to 100 pounds unassisted), bend, twist, push, and pull.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, skills in administering nursing techniques, including taking vital signs and medication administration, and knowledge of possible side effects.
  • Exceptional organization skills, ability to prepare and maintain accurate resident charts, reports, and observations.
  • Effective communication skills and interpersonal relations.
  • Good problem-solving and independent thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of basic hygiene and sanitation practices.
  • Professional conduct and ethics.

Salary and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000-$60,000 per year, depending on experience. Our benefits package includes health insurance, dental insurance, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and vision insurance. We also offer a 401(k) plan for retirement savings.

Location: This position requires relocation to Brownwood, TX 76801 before starting work. The work location is on-site.
