Position Overview:

The Senior Vice President in the Second Line of Defense (2LOD) for the Hedge Fund Credit Team is tasked with overseeing Citi's credit exposure, offering critical review and assessment to the First Line of Defense (1LOD) Institutional Credit Management (ICM) team in alignment with risk appetite, established policies, exceptions, and comprehensive credit evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough reviews and provide final approvals on initial and annual credit assessments performed by ICM for a diverse portfolio of hedge funds.
  • From a 2LOD standpoint, authorize credit facilities, specific transactions, and exceptions within the granted credit authority.
  • Approve trade exceptions while maintaining communication with the sales team as required.
  • Enhance and innovate risk management strategies.
  • Refine processes and update firm-wide policies and procedures to better reflect current market dynamics.
  • Review and challenge credit-related terms in ISDA, MRA, MSFTA, and other capital markets documentation proposed by the 1LOD.
  • Collaborate with a designated trading desk within the firm, educating the team on associated risks.
  • Engage with ICM teams, hedge fund clients, trading desks, operations, and legal departments.
  • Provide mentorship and direction to junior team members.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing a complex hedge fund portfolio that encompasses various trading strategies. The following qualifications are essential:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of Capital Markets trading and lending products, especially derivatives, structured products, and other complex instruments utilized by hedge funds.
  • Strong risk management capabilities along with familiarity with contemporary risk reporting platforms for monitoring and stress testing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of collaborating with various groups and presenting insights to management.
  • Self-motivated and confident in driving organizational change.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, even in high-pressure environments.
  • Quantitative and intuitive understanding of the risks associated with capital markets products, transactions, and positions.
  • Formal credit training with experience in a global financial institution.
  • A genuine ability to foster and support business growth.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; additional qualifications such as an MBA or MS are desirable.
