Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Production Support Analyst is responsible for assisting in the management and maintenance of production applications within mainframe and midrange computing environments. This role operates under the guidance of a team lead or section manager and encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Overseeing production tasks in mainframe and mid-range server settings, which involves job creation, scheduling, execution, and troubleshooting.
  • Supporting COBOL applications on the mainframe by utilizing a source code management and compilation tool to facilitate the promotion of program packages and components as needed by developers.
  • Engaging in collaborative programming sessions to foster knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Reviewing procedural documentation and contributing to team presentations to enhance team capabilities.
  • Managing incident tickets through a tracking software application, ensuring each ticket is updated with actions taken and resolutions provided.
  • Coordinating mainframe console operations, which includes device assignment, responding to operator alerts, and managing input/output devices according to established schedules while adhering to operational standards.
  • Performing various responsibilities during shifts in a 24/7 operational environment.

Essential Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong customer service skills, adaptability, interpersonal abilities, leadership qualities, organizational insight, problem-solving capabilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years in IBM mainframe operations and production control environments, including job management using Control-M.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a data center environment, interacting with clients, and managing incident tickets using tracking software like Cherwell.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Endevor for moving application programs and source elements such as Job Control Language (JCL), Procedures (PROCS), and Control Statements to Endevor libraries.

Educational Background:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience operating commercial high-speed printers, such as Canon varioPRINT 6220 TITAN MICR, for large volume printing tasks is a plus.
