Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at UF Health. As a Medical Laboratory Specialist, you will be responsible for performing complex analysis on tissue, blood, and body fluids using laboratory instrumentation, manual methods, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform simple and complex analysis on tissue, blood, and body fluids using laboratory instrumentation, manual methods, and procedures.
  • Approve the performance of tests by technicians.
  • Assume accountability for patient tests by providing a high standard of quality using independent judgment in the performance of standard operating procedures and complex instrumentation in varying sample environments.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
    • Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology; OR
    • Bachelor Degree and one year as a Medical Laboratory Technician; OR
    • 90 semester hours college credit with 24 semester hours of academic science and completion of an approved clinical laboratory training program; OR
    • Associate Degree and appropriate combination of training and experience
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration:
    • Must possess either a temporary or current license as a State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the specialty(s) required for the job.
Additional Requirements
  • Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
    • Employees in this position will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose.
