Position Summary
The Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment is seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who possesses a calm demeanor in high-pressure situations. The LPN will play a crucial role in patient care by monitoring health status, conducting routine assessments, and collaborating with Program Directors and medical personnel to fulfill client requirements. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong observational skills and empathy towards patients while maintaining a professional approach.
Incentive for Overnight Shifts: $20 bonus per shift
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, plan, implement, and assess the medical and nursing care provided to all patients.
- Communicate procedures and treatments effectively to patients to ensure understanding and cooperation.
- Ensure the comfort, hygiene, and safety of all patients.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to established protocols.
- Monitor patients, document significant changes, and alert the Lead Nurse or RN on call regarding any concerns.
- Coordinate patient referrals and follow up on medical recommendations.
- Act promptly in life-threatening situations, adhering to nursing standards and protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including history and biopsychosocial assessments; ensure documentation is completed thoroughly.
- Supervise staff during assigned shifts, providing training, coaching, and performance evaluations; report any personnel issues to the Treatment Director.
- Assess unit activities to guarantee quality patient care, effective staff interactions, and service efficiency; inspect facilities for cleanliness and safety.
- Address and resolve complaints or escalate unusual issues to the Treatment Director, serving as a liaison between management and staff.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Current Practical Nursing License in Minnesota is required.
- Flexibility in work hours is essential.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain treatments to patients.
- Demonstrated empathy and patience towards clients.
- Ability to follow instructions from healthcare professionals.
