This role will oversee and mentor a team of Project Accountants, ensuring comprehensive accounting support and management for designated projects and/or offices, as well as providing general accounting and administrative assistance for corporate accounting functions. The Project Accounting Manager serves as the main accounting contact for project managers and operational staff, reporting directly to the VP of Finance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver full cycle accounting and administrative support for assigned projects, including project/contract initiation, client invoicing, accounts payable, job costing, labor allocation, and project completion.
  • Evaluate existing processes and collaborate with the VP of Finance to enhance these procedures for improved efficiency.
  • Systematically organize and maintain accounting documentation related to projects.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and coordinators to support the management of assigned projects.
  • Generate and disseminate monthly job cost reports and project profitability analyses.
  • Review and process subcontractor payment requests through Textura, ensuring adherence to contract stipulations, change orders, lien waivers, and insurance obligations.
  • Assist in project and corporate audits and support subcontractor default claims as necessary.
  • Investigate and resolve inquiries or issues pertaining to assigned projects and/or offices.
  • Provide assistance to management on project and accounting-related inquiries.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in project/job cost accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • A Bachelor's degree is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Textura or similar subcontract management tools such as GC Pay or Procore Pay is essential.
  • A strong aptitude for contemporary systems, processes, and technology is required.
  • Intermediate skills in Excel and Word are necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines; strong organizational skills are a must.
  • A robust work ethic and a positive, proactive attitude are essential.
