Responsibilities:
  • Perform electrocardiograms and Holter monitor hook-ups, including patient education.
  • Ensure accurate editing of EKGs and confirmation is complete.
  • Provide previous EKGs for comparative interpretation by physicians and separate EKGs for interpretation by assigned physician groups.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records and statistics of all EKG procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining order and cleanliness of the unit and maintain appropriate stock levels.
  • Complete daily, progress, and discharge documentation according to departmental standards.
  • Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives, identifying potential areas for improvement and safety hazards.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) course completion card from the American Heart Association required.
  • Previous EKG and/or Holter monitor experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy is required. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, and walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
