Senior Legal Counsel for Supply Chain Operations

Tesla, a pioneering electric vehicle and clean energy company, is seeking a seasoned Senior Legal Counsel to join its Infrastructure Legal team. This role will focus on supporting Tesla's supply chain operations by managing a high volume of commercial contracts, providing strategic advice on various matters, facilitating dispute resolutions, and preparing contract forms. The ideal candidate will be a commercial lawyer with a strong background in contract management, negotiation, and dispute resolution. They should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues worldwide. The Senior Legal Counsel will be based in one of Tesla's offices in Austin, Texas; the bay area of California; or Reno, Nevada. They will be responsible for managing a wide range of commercial contracts, including supply agreements, economic development agreements, master services agreements, purchase and sale agreements, real estate agreements, and confidentiality agreements. They will also provide advice on strategic, regulatory, and transactional matters for Tesla's supply chain team and other teams. Additionally, they will facilitate the resolution of legal disputes, including drafting and responding to breach of contract claims.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a high volume and wide range of commercial contracts, including supply agreements, economic development agreements, master services agreements, purchase and sale agreements, real estate agreements, and confidentiality agreements
  • Provide advice on a wide variety of strategic, regulatory, and transactional matters for Tesla's supply chain team and other teams
  • Facilitate resolution of legal disputes, including by drafting and responding to breach of contract claims
  • Prepare and maintain contract forms to support Tesla's businesses and areas of operation
  • Liaise with colleagues worldwide to ensure consistency of contracts and risk allocation across the various Tesla businesses
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor degree with current license to practice in at least one U.S. state or Washington, DC
  • Minimum of 10 years of practice experience; combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to proactively identify problems, drive projects, make complex cost/benefit assessments, identify pragmatic/creative legal and business solutions, and quickly earn the confidence of your colleagues
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced, challenging environment
  • Quick and flexible learner with well-honed analytical skills, intellectually curious, open-minded, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity and risk, and excited by dynamic change

Estimated Salary

The estimated salary range for this role is $180,000 - $220,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
