Ultrasound Technologist Job Summary

Hennepin Healthcare is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team in the Ultrasound department. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for performing ultrasound scanning procedures, reporting preliminary findings to radiologists, and taking anatomical pictures to demonstrate organs.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct clinical assessments and diagnostic sonography examinations to identify and record anatomical and pathological information.
  • Utilize cognitive sonographic skills to adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information, and images.
  • Analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information, and medical history, and communicate findings to radiologists.
  • Coordinate work schedules with departmental supervisors and scheduling desks to ensure workload coverage.
  • Ensure the safety, mental, and physical comfort of patients while they are in your care.
  • Assist with daily operations of the ultrasound department, maintain equipment, and work areas, and ensure adequate supplies.
  • Establish and maintain ethical working relationships and good rapport with hospital referral agencies and commercial partners.
  • Coordinate with other staff to ensure appropriate patient care is provided.
  • Provide ultrasound skill training for ultrasound technologist students and radiology residents.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in ultrasound technology from an accredited school.
  • Certification or certification eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • Maintain minimum CE credits as mandated by the accrediting body ARDMS.
  • Possess current CPR certification or obtain within 4 months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of ultrasound experience or internship at HCMC.
  • Proficient in Abdomen, OB/GYN, and Small Parts.
