The Senior Quality Engineering Specialist collaborates with suppliers and internal teams to enhance quality systems and performance metrics. This role is crucial for ensuring that suppliers adhere to quality standards and for overseeing the incoming inspection, quarantine, and disposition of products. The Senior Quality Specialist works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product flow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by providing leadership and guidance to facility teams.
- Assist sourcing, purchasing, and corporate quality teams in establishing supplier expectations and objectives.
- Oversee the resolution of supplier quality challenges.
- Manage the execution of internal product audits and address nonconformance issues. Lead problem-solving initiatives at both plant and supplier levels.
- Support the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and manage the qualification of new components through the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.
- Coordinate the collection of supplier quality, rework, and scrap data to inform Cost of Quality metrics.
- Conduct and oversee audits/assessments of processes and quality systems (ISO, internal audits, etc.).
- Analyze product data to spearhead improvement initiatives aimed at minimizing defects.
- Guide Quality Leads in prioritizing inspection tasks effectively.
- Develop and adjust inspection sampling plans based on supplier performance metrics.
- Assist in identifying and ensuring traceability of products.
- Guarantee the integrity of testing and inspection processes (Measurement System Analysis/ Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility).
- Act as a Super User for SAP within the assigned functional area.
- Create and implement standardized tools, methodologies, and practices for the company.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting utilizing APQP (Control Plan & PFMEA).
- 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance within a plant or supplier quality context.
- Proven problem-solving abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing and quality metrics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- Certification as a Quality Engineer or Technician.
- Certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
- Certified Quality Auditor.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Knowledge of Lean principles and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Proven ability to lead collaborative teams to drive improvements in a dynamic environment.
