About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Epiq Solutions, a leading provider of cutting-edge software-defined radio (SDR) products and processing solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing state-of-the-art small form factor SDR platforms, requiring a variety of mechanical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial conceptual design and development of mechanical components, including mounting brackets and enclosures.
  • Model mechanical components to confirm design feasibility and ensure optimal performance.
  • Implement detailed CAD designs, including design packages for fabrication and manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with hardware and layout teams to design custom printed circuit boards.
  • Perform thermal analysis to understand operational limitations and ensure design for manufacturability.
  • Develop support documentation and inventory management to transition designs into production.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience developing real-world solutions.
  • Experience designing small form factor electronics enclosures with demanding thermal performance requirements.
  • Ability to execute projects from initial concept phase to fabrication of production units.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Experience designing sheet metal and machined parts, as well as manufacturing challenges and designing for manufacturability.
  • Familiarity with printed circuit board design and assembly processes.
  • Effective communication skills, including oral and written communication.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and pitch in where needed for the greater good of the team.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
Desired Skills
  • Experience with wireless communications systems and familiarity with RF concepts such as EMI/RFI and antennas.
  • Familiarity with ruggedized product design and environmental testing.
  • Understanding of simple robust design concepts and ability to balance aesthetic design with sound mechanical engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of design materials and their proper application.
  • Experience with version control (PDM, ePDM) and developing rapid prototypes of mechanical components.
  • Ability to tackle technical development tasks outside their domain of expertise.
