Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this role is estimated at $27.89 - $40.09 per hour, based on the hiring range and experience. As a State position employed by UNC Health Care System, you will be eligible for UNC Health benefits, including those applicable if you are presently an employee of another North Carolina agency and currently participate in TSERS or the ORP.


Job Description

This Medical Imaging Specialist - CT Technologist role involves conducting procedures and tests using Computerized Tomography (CT) equipment to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data. Additional duties may include C-arm work and portables.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient identification and obtain patient history while demonstrating professional manners and methods.
  • Obtain images per protocols, manipulate images according to protocols, and perform multi-planar and 3D reconstruction of image data.
  • Administer oral contrast to adult and pediatric patients according to protocols, establish intravenous lines, and administer IV contrast following safe and proper injection procedures.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of PACS, transmit images to QC, UNCH's EMR, EPIC, and PACS, verify and segment images at the QC station, and complete, modify, and/or cancel orders in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Perform tasks in a timely manner, run the schedule creating a consistent workflow, volunteer to work on challenging tasks, difficult procedures, and new research, produce quality diagnostic images, review patient's chart and reports for correlation, maintain a clean and orderly work environment, create and keep documentation of incidents as improvement opportunities for employees and the department, and precept new employees and students.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have a completion of an accredited educational program in Radiological Science or completion within 3 months at time of application, registration with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences or registry eligibility, advanced certification in CT within one year of employment, and maintenance of current competency in HCP BLS.

You should also possess prior education, training, and experience that provides the ability to perform the assigned tasks, as well as knowledge, skills, and abilities requirements applicable to this role.
