Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Rocky Mountain Orthopedics in Grand Junction, CO. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and clinical support to our healthcare team, including preparing patients for exams, taking vital signs, and documenting patient information.
  • Assist with scheduling patients for diagnostic testing and follow-up appointments as needed.
  • Communicate test results to patients and establish a plan of care as directed by the provider.
  • Prepare and maintain patient exam rooms, including cleaning and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
  • Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines as directed by the provider.
  • Escalate non-routine issues, questions, and concerns to the practice manager and/or healthcare provider(s).
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current BLS certification required upon hire or within 60 days of hire upon approval.
  • One (1) year previous experience within a healthcare setting required.
  • Successful completion of initial MA onboarding within 90 days, annual skills fair, and in-services for site-specific tasks required.
  • Ability to successfully function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Successful completion of an Accredited National Certification Exam for Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
Physical Requirements

This position requires regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts. The employee must be able to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. The employee must also be able to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy is also required.
