Position Overview:

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) within the educational environment plays a crucial role in assessing and supporting students with communication challenges. This position involves conducting thorough evaluations and delivering tailored therapy services that align with each student's individualized plan and the directives of healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate students' communication abilities, including articulation, fluency, voice, and both expressive and receptive language skills, to identify communication disorders and establish eligibility for services.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including educators and parents, to share insights, address concerns, and ensure compliance with established protocols.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings for students who qualify for services, such as assessments, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and parent consultations, to discuss evaluation findings and treatment strategies.
  • Create and implement individualized treatment plans and educational resources aimed at reducing the impact of communication disorders, while adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Guide eligible students in utilizing assistive communication technologies, such as hearing aids and augmentative communication devices.
  • Maintain comprehensive records, including progress reports, treatment plans, and necessary documentation, to track student progress and service delivery.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities, including workshops and team meetings, to enhance skills and knowledge in the field.
  • Provide direct speech and language therapy to students, focusing on improving their communication skills and overall academic success.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned to support the educational mission.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) license in the relevant state.
  • Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), as required by state or contractual obligations.
  • Adhere to all applicable professional standards and regulations.
  • Completion of Amergis' Competency program, if applicable.
  • Current CPR certification, if required.
  • Health screening documentation as per state or contract regulations.
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements for practice.
  • Successful completion of orientation and training specific to the role.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, with proficiency in English, to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Proficient in computer use for documentation and communication purposes.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
