Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiation Oncology Physicist to join our team at Maryland Oncology. As a key member of our radiation therapy department, you will be responsible for designing and implementing radiation treatment plans, ensuring the safety of patients and staff, and participating in clinical, research, and educational duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and optimize radiation treatment plans using advanced computer systems and equipment.
  • Collaborate with physicians to provide technical guidance and support for radiation therapy treatments.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance programs to ensure the accuracy and safety of radiation treatments.
  • Supervise and train radiation therapy staff, including medical dosimetrists and therapy equipment service engineers.
  • Participate in clinical instruction and mentorship programs for newly hired radiation staff and students.
Requirements
  • Post-doctoral degree in Physics from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum three to five years of experience in radiation physics.
  • Current certification in medical physics by the American Board of Radiology or Board of Medical Physics.
  • Valid state license for medical physics, as required.
Work Environment

The work environment for this position is fast-paced and dynamic, with frequent contact with staff and patients. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical staff.

This position requires the ability to stand for 8 hours, lift 40 pounds, and have sufficient visual acuity to distinguish structures and isodose displays on a computer monitor. Additionally, the candidate must be able to align treatment fields and monitor patients during radiation therapy treatments.
