Cardiac Ultrasound Specialist

Overview
We are seeking a skilled Sonographer who collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and cardiologists to accurately identify medical conditions and conduct high-quality cardiac ultrasound examinations, including Transthoracic Echocardiograms (TTE), Stress Echocardiograms (SE, DOB SE) with and without pharmacologic agents, and assists in Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE) using the latest technologies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct adult cardiac ultrasound examinations (TTE, TEE, SE, and DOB SE) adhering to established protocols in accordance with ICAEL and the American Society of Echocardiography standards.
2. Utilize equipment controls effectively to enhance image quality for optimal visualization of cardiac structures.
3. Execute all necessary calculations for diagnosing cardiovascular conditions, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of various disease states.
4. Recognize when to implement a CRITICAL FINDINGS protocol and follow through with the necessary procedures.
5. Clearly explain procedures to patients, ensuring they fully understand the process while maintaining a calm demeanor throughout the examination.
6. Assist physicians with ultrasound software for troubleshooting or selecting images post-examination.
7. Access the Cupid Report system to enter relevant data and technologist interpretations, ensuring all required fields are completed.
8. Utilize the electronic patient log (pre and post-exam) to accurately document patient information and exam details.
9. Ensure the correct association of procedures with appropriate charges.
10. Promptly report any unusual occurrences or equipment malfunctions to the Department Supervisor or Clinical Engineering.
11. Properly clean the TEE probe following established laboratory protocols.
12. Maintain and clean ultrasound equipment daily or as necessary.
13. Manage inventory to ensure adequate supplies are always available.
14. Provide exceptional customer service, exhibiting a friendly and professional demeanor while on duty.
15. Take responsibility for actions and demonstrate accountability.
16. Exhibit flexibility in work assignments, embracing changes in a spirit of teamwork. Maintain a positive attitude, address conflicts privately, and treat colleagues with respect and dignity.
17. Keep up-to-date with in-services, training, and credentials, demonstrating competence in relevant technology skills.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a cardiac ultrasound program with an associate degree in cardiovascular technology or equivalent experience in the field.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer is preferred.
- Pediatric Echocardiography experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Excel and Word. Ability to utilize hospital-approved computer systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations.
- In-depth knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology, along with a thorough understanding of Echocardiography procedures and equipment.
- Ability to prioritize patient flow to enhance productivity.
Registered sonographer through the Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) is preferred, or registry eligible. If registry eligible, registration must be completed within one year of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
