Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Parent Educator to join our team at Child & Family Resources. As a Parent Educator, you will work closely with families and their children to provide support, guidance, and education to enhance their quality of life and promote healthy child development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the Parents as Teachers model and curriculum with fidelity, following all program and agency policies and procedures.
  • Conduct home visits and maintain a caseload of 20 families, providing parent education, sensory and developmental screenings, and family support.
  • Prepare for home visits and complete the Planning Guide in data system (Penelope) prior to the scheduled visit.
  • Administer developmental (ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE2) and sensory (vision and hearing) screenings throughout the program year with appropriate screening tools and equipment.
  • Connect families to resources that address their needs at a minimum of monthly.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement activities, as set by the program/agency.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with colleagues, administration, collaborative partners, and others within the community.
Requirements
  • CDA, Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Family Studies, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or related field.
  • Two or more years of experience working with young children 0 – 5 years of age and their parents.
  • Knowledge/experience in home visitation and group education, typical and delayed child development, and community resources.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with families, social service providers, collaborative partners, co-workers, and Program Director/Supervisor.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and some weekends.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and meet all set deadlines.
Working Conditions

The position includes interaction with children that could include picking up a child as heavy as 40 pounds. Moderate twisting, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 40 pounds in the performance of assigned duties. Ability to use a variety of office equipment and machines as referenced. Normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination required. Repeated hand-wrist movement required. Driving short and long distances for work purposes, to include but not limited to: home visits, events, outreach, and program meetings.
