Job Overview: The role of the Quality Assurance Supervisor is pivotal in upholding the quality benchmarks of Medix™. This position is responsible for leading the quality assurance team, ensuring that all quality-related tasks and documentation are completed effectively during the designated shift.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver training on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety policies, while developing and implementing assessment methods to confirm comprehension among all personnel. Regularly monitor compliance with these policies by production staff.
- Establish, maintain, and ensure the accurate execution and documentation of all food safety and quality protocols.
- Act as the Site SQF Practitioner.
- Conduct annual reviews and validations of the food safety framework, including prerequisite programs and HACCP.
- Support the sanitation team to guarantee the overall efficiency of the Sanitation Program.
- Oversee the Pest Control Program and coordinate with the pest control service provider to ensure its effectiveness.
- Manage the site's Microbiological Programs and assist in addressing environmental, sanitation, and food safety challenges.
- Guide and train production staff in monitoring production lines for HACCP and regulatory compliance, ensuring the production of food-safe quality products. Provide assistance to the production team when quality issues arise, ensuring products align with customer specifications.
- Ensure all internal and external product testing (Micro and Chemistry) is performed as required and according to customer specifications.
- Coordinate the hold and release process.
- Prepare for and participate in state and federal inspections and external customer audits. Supervise the creation of customer Certificates of Analysis (COAs) based on established specifications.
- Evaluate customer complaints, formulate responses, and implement corrective measures to resolve issues.
- Document and track all required corrective actions until completion.
- Adhere to all GMP, Food Safety, and Plant Safety regulations while in the processing facility. Encourage staff to report any Food Safety and Quality concerns immediately to their supervisors and Quality representatives on duty.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by Management.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma with a minimum of 3 years of experience in quality assurance.
- Self-driven with robust leadership capabilities and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to document Quality programs and ensure timely task completion by the team.
- Completion of training in the SQF system.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to routinely lift and carry packaging weighing up to 20 lbs.
- Capable of performing tasks in various working conditions, including hot and cold environments.
- Medically fit to handle minor exposure to chemical cleaning agents.
- Required to wear assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to sanitation protocols.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours at a time.
Work Environment:
This position operates in both office and manufacturing settings, characterized by variable temperatures and elevated noise levels from machinery and equipment alarms. The incumbent will be exposed to loud noises and alarms from equipment and machinery.
