Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Patient Access Specialist to join our team at Prisma Health. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patients receive high-quality care by accurately collecting and verifying demographic and financial data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interviews and Data Collection

Conduct thorough interviews with patients to collect and verify demographic and financial data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Insurance Verification

Verify insurance coverage and benefits using online eligibility or telephone inquiries to employers and/or third-party payors, documenting all information in the system.

Pre-Certification and Authorization

Initiate pre-certification and authorization processes as required, obtaining signed waivers when necessary.

Payment and Collections

Receive payments, issue receipts, and work towards collection goals, maintaining cash funds and verification logs.

Reporting and Documentation

Prepare and distribute reports, documents, and patient identification items as required, including privacy notices, patient rights, and financial responsibility information.

Requirements
  • Education

High School Diploma or equivalent or post-high school education.

Experience

2 years of experience in admissions, billing, collections, insurance, and/or customer service.

Skills

Basic computer skills, knowledge of office equipment, word processing, spreadsheets, database management, data entry, and mathematical skills.
