Job Overview

The US Youth Specialist is a critical role at The Children's Village, responsible for providing emergency counseling, initial case management, and day-to-day supervision and monitoring of Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) sent to the US Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emergency counseling and initial case management to UAC
  • Supervise and monitor UAC on a daily basis
  • Communicate effectively with UAC, staff, and other stakeholders
  • Develop and implement individualized case plans for UAC
  • Collaborate with other agencies and organizations to ensure comprehensive support for UAC

Requirements:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; some college education preferred
  • NYS Driver's License Required
  • Minimum of 1 year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents
  • A genuine respect for and interest in children and their families of diverse racial and ethnic identity
  • Ability to form a therapeutic relationship with children and their families
  • Ability to put into practice all techniques of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (as taught in pre-employment training)
  • Ability to demonstrate counseling techniques
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English and Spanish
