Hargrove Engineers & Constructors is seeking a skilled Civil Engineering Design Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing civil sitework engineering design services, including grading plan design, hydrology and stormwater management systems design, roadway design, and erosion control planning and design associated with preparing construction drawing packages.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, with experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and a proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. You will work closely with our design leaders to ensure the smooth flow of vital information necessary for the scheduled completion of projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide civil sitework engineering design services, including grading plan design, hydrology and stormwater management systems design, roadway design, and erosion control planning and design associated with preparing construction drawing packages.
  • Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving engineering tasks at hand.
  • Produce estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs suitable for the level of the estimate being performed on a project.
  • Produce detail design calculations and sketches for materials of construction associated with the project.
  • Check calculations made by other engineers to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, design criteria, and conformance to good engineering practice.
  • Consult with design leaders from other disciplines to ensure the smooth flow of vital information necessary for the scheduled completion of projects.
  • Assist other engineers in developing and assembling scopes, drawings, and specifications into a "package," enabling civil/structural purchase inquiries to be issued for procurement of materials or subcontract pricing.
  • Review fabrication drawings and other construction submittals for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Perform fieldwork necessary to gather field data, check tie-ins, and provide construction support.
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced drafting and engineering personnel in the department.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Structural coursework is required for structural engineering positions.
  • Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant industrial experience in civil/structural engineering.
  • Experience in site development design, including grading plan design, hydrology and stormwater management systems design, roadway design, and erosion control planning and design associated with preparing construction drawing packages.
  • Limited site visits for site familiarity needed to support engineering designs and drawing packages may be required.
  • Proficient experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D for construction plan package development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is strongly preferred.
