Job Overview:


We are in search of a Senior Systems Engineer to join our innovative team at Hummingbirds Innovations. In this role, you will collaborate with a small development and operations team, engaging with government clients to transition legacy systems into a modern cloud framework.

You will work closely with stakeholders to clarify requirements, implement business logic, and enhance applications. Your expertise will guide strategic initiatives in enterprise and system architecture practices, principles, documentation, and governance. You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in systems engineering support across various IT domains (e.g., Virtual & Physical Servers, Cloud technologies, Networking, etc.).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain scripts for Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) data processes.
  • Create scripts to establish direct connections to diverse systems housing data essential for business analytics and application functionality.
  • Automate data ingestion processes as necessary.
  • Assist in navigating the security accreditation process, including (i) documenting the as-built system configuration; (ii) updating configurations to comply with accreditation standards; and (iii) collaborating with accreditation assessors and information system security managers.
  • Facilitate the distribution of reports to authorized users.
  • Support data sharing and acquisition initiatives.
  • Implement modifications to existing applications and data pipelines based on client requirements.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field with 8 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 6 years of experience; or an Associate's degree with 10 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of specialized experience in enterprise and systems architecture.
  • At least 3 years of experience with cloud migration and hybrid cloud management solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience in system disaster recovery/COOP and backup solution engineering, implementation, and operational management.
  • Proficient in VMWare and other virtualization technologies.
  • Proven track record in providing technical leadership in architecture, engineering, and operational services.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and integrating multiple data sources to create customized dashboards for senior management and government clients.
  • Familiarity with the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Framework, high availability, and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Experience in creating secure application systems following IC security guidelines and utilizing customer authentication and authorization systems.
  • Experience in designing, configuring, and maintaining IT infrastructure associated with systems hosted in cloud environments.
  • Ability to assess the impact of proposed changes on future architectures and experience in accrediting IT systems under the ICD 503 Certification and Accreditation Process.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to create original documentation.
  • Experience in overseeing the efforts of direct reporting resources and mentoring less experienced personnel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud-based technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with enterprise-level deployments, including customer governance, policy definitions, policy management, and automation.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification.
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials.
  • PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • VMware Certified Professional.
  • Oracle Certified Associate (OCA).
