Job Summary

The Georgia Department of Education is seeking an experienced District Effectiveness Specialist to provide onsite school and district improvement services and support to identified districts. This position will work under the direction of the Program Manager and in collaboration with the Office of School and District Improvement and other Georgia Department of Education team members.

Description of Duties

  • Guide district leaders in developing and sustaining a leadership team focused on continuous improvement to increase student achievement.
  • Support district leaders and staff in developing structures and processes that promote standards-based, job-embedded, results-driven professional learning.
  • Assist district leaders in creating and sustaining a culture of data-driven decision making.
  • Collaborate with district leaders to develop district strategic plans with measurable goals.
  • Guide district leadership and school leaders in implementing school and district standards.
  • Facilitate district leadership in developing, implementing, and monitoring a formalized system of data-driven interventions.
  • Support district leaders in sustaining the school improvement process.
  • Develop action plans with district leaders.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants who possess one or more of the following:

  • Five or more years of experience in a K-12 central office leadership position.
  • Experience successfully coaching new and experienced leaders.
  • Located within 50 miles of Tifton.
  • Georgia Professional Standards Commission certificate in educational leadership at level L-5, L-6, or L-7.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Education Specialist or higher degree.
  • Experience working with district level professional staff with a focus on instruction and/or leadership.
  • Strong knowledge base of best practices in leadership and standards-based instruction.
  • Demonstrated success in team building.
  • Experience in data analysis and the organization and implementation of major school initiatives.
  • Experience working with adult learners.
  • Strong work ethic, self-directed, and self-motivated.
  • Knowledge of state and federal guidelines, including the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

Regional and Statewide travel is required.
