Adjunct Professor

The Health Information Management Technology Adjunct position is responsible for providing quality instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment in the classroom. The incumbent must exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask while engaging large groups of people with complicated material.
Key Responsibilities:- Teach assigned courses as scheduled, designing curriculum that embraces diversity and fosters talent in students.
- Participate in the identification of students with academic or other needs and respond by utilizing an appropriate resource.
- Use technology in a manner appropriate to the nature and objectives of courses and programs, communicating clearly to students the expectations concerning the use of such technology.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate records in accordance with departmental policies.
- Conduct classes punctually and in accordance with the prescribed meeting schedule.
- Employ appropriate assessment techniques to measure students' performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
- Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge, student and faculty interaction, and support for learners.
- Use technology to assist in communication with students.
- Encourage a sense of community among students for learning both inside and outside the classroom.
- Help ensure the College meets its responsibilities in identifying areas of opportunity and systemic concerns while reporting complaints alleging discrimination.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive, equitable and productive work and learning environment where all students, faculty members, and college employees feel valued and are able to contribute to their full potential, regardless of their differences.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in health information management and current certification in one of the following: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Coding Specialist-physician based (CCS-P).
- Bachelor's degree + RHIA credential.
- Prior college-level teaching experience.
- Experience with Blackboard or other Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Compensation: $55.88 per contact hour. Contact Hour: Two hours equals one contact hour. Hours: Maximum of 12 contact hours per week.
