Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse to join our team at the 90th Medical Group, F.E. Warren AFB, WY. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Initiate, perform, and complete assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations.
  • Complete assigned patient care based on the patients' conditions, use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments, and accurately recognize, report, and record relevant patient information.
  • Observe, identify, and respond to the patient's needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care, and patient/family education.
  • Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intravenous) and perform treatments according to established policies/procedures.
  • Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD/DO, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed.
  • Perform support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures, which include preparing the patient, assisting in the diagnostic examination, preparing and handling specialized instruments or other specialized equipment, and monitoring the patient's condition before, during, and following the procedure.
  • Orient peers and ancillary personnel to unit policies and procedures, skills, and standards of practice.
  • Integrate healthy work environment principles that result in improved patient healthcare delivery, education of patients and their families, and employee satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a licensed or practical Nurse.
  • One year of practical or vocational nurse experience after graduation.
  • Must maintain hands-on BLS course through American Heart Association or ARC.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.
  • Physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.
Work Environment

Be scheduled to work between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday with a one-hour lunch period. In no instance shall the HCW provide services in excess of eight (8) hours per day or forty (40) hours per week. There are no Overage or On-Call hours authorized. Health Care Workers will not be required to work on federally recognized holidays.

F.E. Warren AFB has approximately six to nine Family Days and Wing Commander declared down days each year. On these days, the MTF will still operate, and Health Care Worker shall perform services unless they schedule leave.

Base Down Days: During a planned closure of the facility due to training, closures before or after holidays, family down days, Employee will only be compensated for the actual hours worked. If clinic is closed, and employee is not able to work, employee will be required to use leave or take LWOP (without penalty).

Special Requirements

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline-intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
