All Medical Surgical Units at Piedmont Rockdale share the following;

Bedside shift report during nurse and patient care technician handoff

Hourly, purposeful rounding utilizing A.I.D.E.T

Adherence to quality initiatives

Multidisciplinary rounding and care coordination

Nurse-patient ratios of 5:1 during the day and 6:1 at night

Charge nurse with a limited patient load to facilitate daily operations

No on-call requirements

Self-scheduling through Smart Square

Medical Surgical 1 (MS1): 32 beds

Patient population includes individuals with chest pain, congestive heart failure, those requiring hemodialysis, and general medical patients. Nursing competencies include Basic Life Support and standard medical-surgical nursing care.

Responsibilities

The staff nurse delivers nursing care to patients across the lifespan by employing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care. He/she operates within the framework of the organization's policies and procedures, demonstrating professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for upholding standards of practice and coordinating patient care activities among all assigned staff to ensure quality nursing care.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Required:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Minimum Experience Required

New graduates of a nursing program are eligible

Minimum Licensure/Certification Required By Law

Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.

BLS certification is required.

Additional Qualifications

For PRN positions: One year of nursing experience in a hospital setting is preferred

Bachelor's degree is preferred

Advanced certification in the field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
