The primary objective of this role is to safeguard lives and property by preventing, controlling, and extinguishing fires, as well as executing related emergency response tasks. Candidates will participate in rigorous training at the fire academy to develop essential skills.
This position emphasizes safety, and personnel may be subject to random drug screenings in accordance with the County's Drug & Alcohol Policy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in training sessions to enhance abilities, knowledge, and comprehension of departmental operations, responsibilities, and protocols.
- Respond to a variety of emergency situations, including fire suppression, medical assistance, and other critical incidents.
- Ensure the safety of individuals and properties by actively combating fires, conducting search and rescue operations, and providing assistance in emergencies until relieved.
- Deliver basic first aid and medical support during crisis situations.
- Maintain a state of readiness for emergency responses by routinely checking equipment and supplies, ensuring that emergency medical tools are operational.
- Stay informed about regulations, policies, and advancements in the field, and engage in ongoing training and educational opportunities.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure that vehicles, facilities, and equipment are in optimal working condition.
Minimum Requirements:
A High School Diploma or GED is required; candidates must be at least 18 years of age; prior experience in a related field is preferred.
Required Licenses or Certifications: A valid Georgia driver's license is mandatory. Candidates must obtain and maintain NPQ Firefighter II and EMT-B certifications within 18 months of employment.
